This is a poem written for the performance in honor of the graduation of the Body-Mind Centering® Somatic Movement Education Program, conducted by Moveus in Germany, which I started in July 2019 and proudly finished in February 2022. It was truly an amazing journey of transformation, which re-introduced me to my beautiful body, movement and expression, and gifted me many moments of joy and gratitude, many laughs and tears, and many dear friends. This poem represents the essence of this beautiful work, it is about creation, being and becoming, embodiment, empowerment and eternal strength we carry inside of us as our birthright.
Lyrics:
I am the stillness of the egg in its pure perfection
And the sperm cell moving with clear direction
I am a pause… then a moment of merging
Life force surging, a being emerging
I am the deep drone of pure vibration
Cellular breath, sponging and pulsation
I am evolution and constant elevation
A perfect design provides information
For cell migration, the forming of tissues
I am Nature’s intelligence before I had issues
Before I had questions, doubts and fears
I was powerful fluids flowing in streams
I am a love supreme, the spiral of the humerus
I’m a new-born baby emerging from the uterus
I’m a work of art, baby, blood flowing through the heart, baby
And my every ending is just a new start, baby
I learned how to crawl, walk and speak
Brainwashed by the culture I forgot I was unique
But the memory returns, I condense and expand
And have this deep knowing that life is ever flowing
My muscles are strong, they glide and slide
So I keep enjoying this wild ride called Life
Giving thanks to all my peoples
Giving thanks to Bonnie and our beautiful teachers
Giving thanks to this Planet and all its creatures
Giving thanks to our beautiful eyes and features
We are all so different and yet the same
Playing this game, trying not to go insane
